Joyce Kottman 1930 – 2015 Glasgow resident Joyce Kottman passed away at Golden Living Center October 3, 2015. She was 85 years of age. Joyce Murel Kottman was born February 4, 1930 in Hermann, MO to O.W. and Viola (Becker) Strecker. She was a 1948 graduate of Hermann High School and graduated from LPN School in Columbia in 1972. She married Garvin Kottman April 7, 1967 at Salem Lutheran Church and together they have enjoyed 48 years of marriage. Upon graduation from LPN school Joyce worked at Keller Memorial Hospital in Fayette until it closed in 1995. For several years she worked in the labor and delivery wing and had assisted in the delivery of many babies. Joyce later worked at Golden Living Center until her retirement. During her retirement she volunteered at the Forrest Green voting poll. She was also an active member of Salem Lutheran Church and the Ladies Evening Group. As a hobby, Joyce took delight in collecting antique Griswold Cast Iron Skillets. She also enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband, Garvin of Glasgow; two daughters, Verna Fleetwood of Glasgow and Karen (Harold) Fuemmeler of Huntsville; son, Bob (Stacey) Kottman of Glasgow; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Aside from Joyce’s parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Larry Pottebaum, one sister, Opal Juedemann, one granddaughter, Anna Prewitt and one great-grandson, Xavier Prewitt. Funeral services for Mrs. Kottman will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, October 7th at Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor Glen Gutz officiating. Visitation is 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday evening, October 6th at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow. A visitation will also be held at Salem Lutheran Church one hour before the service, Wednesday morning from 10-11 AM. Burial will follow the service at Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Salem Lutheran Church or Alzheimer’s Research, in care of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home.
