James Bentley 1951 – 2015 Well-known Fayette native, Jim Bentley, passed from this life at Cooper County Hospital in Boonville on Wednesday morning, October 14, 2015. He was 64 years of age. James Wilson Bentley was born at Lee Hospital in Fayette on June 10, 1951, the son of Wilson George and Dorothy Mae (Parmer) Bentley. He was educated in Fayette schools where, in High School, he proved himself to be an outstanding student athlete, participating in several sports and setting a number of records before his graduation in 1969. He was an All-State Football player and held the school’s Shot Put and Discus records in Track. Jim continued to be an avid fan and active supporter of the Fayette High School Athletic program for the rest of his life. ` Jim served his country as a member of the United States Navy from 1970 to 1974 and thereafter continued his service as a member of the Missouri National Guard. On December 18, 1971, James Bentley was united in marriage to Terry Greiner at the Fayette First Christian Church where they continued to be active members and Jim served as Sunday School teacher, Finance Chairman, Board Chairman, Deacon, and Elder. Jim was employed as a salesman for International Paper, Adams Wholesale and Broad Building Supply. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing and reading the bible. Jim is survived by his wife, Terry, of the home, his daughter, Danielle, and her husband, Daniel Russell of LaMonte, MO, and his son, Andy Bentley of Fayette. Two grandsons also survive; Mark and Carson Russell, as does his brother, David Bentley, of Thebes, IL. Other survivors include several brother and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Musgrave, and a sister-in-law, Debi Bentley. A memorial service for James W. Bentley will be held at 11 AM, on Monday, October 19, 2015 at Faith Family Church with Pastors Denise Johnson and Matt Griswold officiating. Friends may call from 6PM until 8PM on Sunday evening, October 18 at the church.
