Norma N. Anderson died Thursday, February 11, 2016, at her home in Fayette. She was 82. Norma was born June 12, 1933, in Armstrong, MO, to Benjamin and Lucille (Kenepp) Neal. She was a teacher, spending most of her career educating the youth of Howard County at Daly Elementary. Mrs. Anderson taught multiple grade levels throughout the years and finished her career as a math specialist. She had a passion for helping those students with the greatest needs. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother, known to her family and many others as “Mimi.” Mrs. Anderson was an avid reader and enjoyed journaling about her travels and family. She was a member of the Altar Guild at Linn Memorial United Methodist Church; a docent at the AshbyHodge Art Gallery; and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Fayette Book Club, MMM, and PEOChapter GG. Norma graduated from Armstrong High School in 1951 and from Central Methodist College in 1955 with a teaching degree. She married Keith Kay Anderson on June 22, 1958, in Armstrong. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1995. She is survived by two daughters, Nancee Gladden of Fayette and Julie Anderson (Jim Bowen) of Framingham, MA; three grandchildren, Megan Gladden Ringen (Aaron), Benjamin Gladden (Lacey), and Alex Bowen; one great grandson, Anderson Michael Ringen; and a soninlaw, Don Gentry. She was preceded in death by her parents and her by eldest daughter, Cynthia J. Anderson. Visitation is scheduled 57PM Monday at FriemonthFreese Funeral Home in Fayette. The funeral will take place at 2PM on Tuesday at FriemonthFreese Funeral Home with the Reverend Harold Young officiating. Interment is at Walnut Ridge Cemetery following the funeral service. Memorials are suggested to MD Anderson Cancer Center (in Houston, TX) or the Norma Anderson Memorial Fund, to be used to meet the emergency needs of students at Daly Elementary.
