Frank Knapp 1933 – 2016 Former Fayette resident, Frank Knapp, passed away at Riverview Nursing Center in Mokane, MO on April 23, 2016. He was 82 years of age. Frank Charles Knapp was born September 21, 1933 in Goodfield, IL to Michael and Lydia (Knapp) Knapp. He graduated from Eureka High School in Eureka, IL. Frank served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a combat engineer. He married Carol Ann Geers on November 12, 1955, and she preceded him in death on February 25, 1998. The couple moved to Fayette in 1973 where Frank farmed and was a masonry contractor. In his spare time, he enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, and woodworking. His parents, one brother, two sisters, and his son, James Knapp, preceded him in death. He is survived by three daughters: Julie (John) Rice of Tebbetts, MO, Michele (Roy) Forbis of Lewisville, TX, and Nancy Huffman of Columbia, MO; one son, Stephen Knapp of Pontiac, IL; two brothers, Harold (Mary Jane) Knapp of New Bloomfield, IA and Michael (Luann) Knapp of Eureka, IL, and one sister, Mida Fehr of Hudson, IL; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 AM, Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette with Rev. Harold Young officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors will follow the service at Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Walnut Ridge Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
