Longtime Glasgow resident, Virgil Renne passed away at Glasgow Gardens October 2, 2016. He was 88 years of age. Virgil Leo Renne was born May 27, 1928 near Forest Green, MO to Charles and Elizabeth (Monnig) Renne. He graduated from Salisbury High School in 1946 and enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in the Korean War; he was awarded two Bronze Stars, was a Platoon Leader and achieved the rank of 1st LT. On November 4, 1950 he married Eloise Imgarten at Salem Lutheran Church. Virgil had worked at Tri County Trust for 40 years retiring as a Vice President in 1995. He was a devout, lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and being with family, especially his grandchildren. Virgil is survived by his wife, Eloise of Glasgow, two sons, Virgil (Connie) Renne of Leawood, KS and Steve Renne of Jefferson City, MO, two daughters, Donna (Steve) Brooks and Janet Johanning all of Columbia, three grandchildren, Brian (Courtney) Johanning, Allen and Eric Johanning, two great grandchildren, Jemma and Kaitlyn, two brothers, Charles (Shirlene) Renne of Bosworth, MO and James (Marilyn) Renne of Lawson, MO, one sister, Margie (Veryl) Freese of Columbia and one sister-in-law, Sue Ellen Renne of Carrollton, MO. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Vernon Renne. Funeral services for Mr. Renne will be 11 AM, Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor Noah Burgdorf officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial with military honors will follow the service in the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Salem Lutheran Cemetery or the American Heart Association in care of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service.
