Lifetime Forest Green resident, Norbert Gebhardt, passed away peacefully at his home on November 17, 2016. He was 75 years of age. Norbert Emil Gebhardt was born on November 26, 1940 in Forest Green, MO to Emil and Edna (Spellman) Gebhardt. He graduated from Salisbury High School in 1958 and attended college for a year at the University of Missouri - Columbia while serving as a Missouri State FFA Officer. Norbert served in the Army Reserve from 1962-1968. Norbert married Linda Hoefelmann on September 7, 1968 at Salem Lutheran Church in Forest Green, MO. Together, they have enjoyed over 48 years of marriage. Norbert was a lifelong farmer and Asgrow/Dekalb seed dealer for over two decades. He was a community leader serving on the Chariton Township Board, Merchants & Farmers Board of Directors, as MFA Oil & MFA delegates, and a director of Forest Green Farmers Mutual Insurance. Norbert had a servant’s heart and was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church since childhood and was the Glasgow Nursing Home Sunday School teacher for the past seventeen years. He is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; two sons, Brian (Kristin) Gebhardt of Keytesville, MO and Jeffrey (Robin) Gebhardt of Salisbury, MO; daughter, Alison (Samit) Shah of Marietta, GA; six grandchildren, Jeremiah, Hannah, Abigail and Grace Gebhardt, and Maya and Kalen Shah; three sisters, Leanna (Kenneth) Kottman of Armstrong, MO, Mary (Joe) Appleyard of Lancaster, PA and Marcie (Jim) Perry of Savannah, GA; he is also survived by a sister-in-law and a number of nieces and nephews. Norbert was preceded in death by his parents. Services for Mr. Gebhardt are 11 AM, Monday, November 21, 2016 at Salem Lutheran Church in Forest Green, MO, with Pastor Noah Bergdorf officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 PM, Sunday, November 20, at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow. Burial will follow the service at Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), in care of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service.
