Veryl Freese 1935 – 2017 Columbia resident and former Salisbury resident, Veryl Freese passed away suddenly at University Hospital in Columbia on August 19, 2017. He was 81. Veryl Rudolph Freese was born October 17, 1935 in Fayette, Mo., the son of Rudolph and Lillie (Engel) Freese. He graduated from Glasgow High School in 1953. Veryl married the love of his life, Margie Renne, at Salem Lutheran Church in Forest Green, Mo. on June 15, 1957. Together they’ve enjoyed just over 60 years of marriage. In 1957, Veryl enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve and was honorably discharged after six years of service. Veryl worked as a farmer most his life. He later worked as an independent insurance salesman. He loved spending time with his family and going to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events. Veryl was a former and active member of Salem Lutheran Church, and most recently a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbia. He is survived by his wife of the home, Margie Freese; three daughters, Denise Harlan of Columbia, Mo., Connie (Cliff) Hayward of Clark, Mo., and Cathy (Terry) Snodgrass of Callao, Mo.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Veryl was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Freese. A funeral service for Mr. Freese will be 11 AM, Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Salem Lutheran Church in Forest Green, Mo., with Pastor Kenneth Gerike officiating. Visitation will be an hour before the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Salem Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service of Glasgow.
