She graduated from Momence High School in Momence, IL. Jill continued her education at Lincoln College in Lincoln, IL, earning an Associate Degree in Business Administration. She spent most of her work life as a college bookstore manager, serving William Woods University in Fulton, MO, New England College in Henniker, NH, and Central Methodist University in Fayette, MO. After leaving the bookstore management field, Jill worked for a few organizations in the Fayette area, including Commercial Trust Company and Endless Options. She finished her career working as the manager of the Fayette Ministerial Alliance’s Food Pantry and Buddy Pack programs. Jill moved to Fayette in 1992 and immediately fell in love with the community – so much so that she focused her energy on serving it. She was a member of the Fayette Rotary Club, the Fayette Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Fayette & Armstrong Area Betterment Group. She also had a passion for animals and animal welfare. Along with the numerous animals she cared for in her home, Jill was a co-founder of the local Pet Adoption and Welfare Service (PAWS), where she also served as a volunteer for several years. Jill is survived by her daughter, Denise Funderburk of Seattle, WA; son J.B. (Dori) Waggoner of Fayette, MO; one grandson, Thomas (Allison) Waggoner of Columbia, MO; two brothers, Don (JoAnna) Bowers of St. Augustine, FL, and Jon (Soledad) Bowers of Centennial, CO. Jill was preceded in death by her parents. During the last few months of her life, Jill was under the expert care of the good people at Glasgow Gardens Living Center in Glasgow, MO and The Lodge in Fayette, MO. The family offers a special thanks to Leigh Hilderbrand and her team at The Lodge for the special care that was given to Jill during her time there.
