Fayette resident, Carroll Wies, passed away peacefully at her home July 11, 2018. She was 59 years of age. Cynthia Mary Carroll Wies was born January 11, 1959 at Lee Hospital in Fayette, MO, the daughter of Charles Henry and Shirley (Knueven) Flaspohler. Carroll graduated from Fayette High School, the class of 1977. She furthered her education, earning a BS in a Functional Combined major from Central Methodist University. She then received certification through DESE for middle science and high school biology. On May 30, 1981, Carroll married the love of her life, Steven A. Wies at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayette. Together they’ve enjoyed over 37 years of marriage. Right after her marriage, Carroll began working as the secretary for the family farm - Wies Farms Inc., where she was employed throughout her career. She enjoyed gardening, canning and fishing. She had a love for nature and animals and enjoyed spending time outdoors. Carroll’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Carroll was a devout and longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayette. She is survived by her Husband, Steve Wies; two daughters, Sarah (Jason) Hutchinson and Amy (Steven) Nation, both of Fayette; five grandchildren, Lane, Walker and Denver Nation, and Kate and Liz Hutchinson; two brothers, Charles (Susan) Flaspohler, and Frank (Pam) Flaspohler, both of Fayette; one sister, Suann (Harlan) Cole of Fayette. Carroll was preceded in death by her parents. A Mass of Christian Burial honoring Mrs. Wies will be 10 AM, Saturday, July 14, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayette, with Fr. Bill Peckman officiating. Visitation will be held the evening before the service, 4-7 PM, Friday, July 13, at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette. A prayer service will be held before the visitation, starting at 3:30 PM. Burial will follow the funeral mass at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Fayette. Memorial contributions are suggested to Walnut Ridge Cemetery, in care of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service.
