J.B. Maupin 1938 – 2018 Glasgow resident, J.B. Maupin passed away at Glasgow Gardens, August 2, 2018. He was 80 years of age. Jesse Barnard Maupin was born March 6, 1938 in South Howard County, MO, near Lisbon, the son of Jess and Willie (Martin) Maupin. He grew up in Glasgow and graduated from Glasgow High School in 1956. J.B. then became a partner with his father in the furniture business in Glasgow. After spending several years with his dad, J.B. moved to Kansas City and became employed with Enterprise Whole Furniture Co. J.B. started as a salesman and worked his way up to assistant buyer of high end quality furniture. He eventually worked his way up and became buyer and sales manager for three firms. J.B. retired in 1999 and lived in Mission, KS. In 2009, he moved back to Howard Co. and settled in Glasgow. He enjoyed being caretaker of the Glasgow Community Museum in 2013 and 2014 and also enjoyed going to the Glasgow Yellow Jacket basketball games until his health declined. He is survived by two sons, Jason and Jordon Maupin of Kansas City North, two sisters, Maurine Kirby, of Glasgow, MO, and Viola Farmer, Independence, MO; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Maupin and Helen Jackson; and one brother, Leon Maupin. He was a friend of “Bill” for 37 years. A celebration of life gathering will be held 1:30 to 3 PM, Friday, August 10th, 2018 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow, MO. Memorial contributions are suggested to Rosehill Cemetery, in care of the funeral home.
