Virginia Shiflett 1921 - 2014 Longtime Armstrong resident, Virginia Shiflett, passed away at Golden Living Center in Glasgow, Wednesday, June 18, 2014. She was 93 years of age. Virginia L. Shiflett was born in Armstrong, MO on June 11, 1921 to Lee and Anna(Hanners) McCully. She graduated from Armstrong High School in 1938. On October 4, 1941, Virginia married Roy Yancey Shiflett in Moberly, MO. He preceded her in death on December 22, 2012. Virginia later graduated from beautician school in Moberly and worked as a Hairdresser for a number of years. Virginia was a devoted member of the Armstrong First Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting and cooking. Virginia also loved doing her crossword puzzles. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and will be missed dearly by family and friends. She is survived by three children, Betty Lou (Gerald) Wyatt of Glasgow, Roy Pete (Roberta) Shiflett of Lawson, MO, and Jody Shiflett of Moberly, MO; three grandchildren, Jay (Debbie) Shiflett, Jill (Greg) Fuemmeler, and Julie Welborn; she is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Cierra and Jenny. Aside from her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean and Zane. Services for Mrs. Shiflett are 10 am, Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow, with Rev. Harold Young and Pastor Bob Shultz officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. Burial will follow the service at Walnut Hill Cemetery, near Armstrong, MO. Memorial contributions are suggested to Coyote Hill or Walnut Hill Cemetery, in care of the funeral home.
