Obituary for Maryalice Straatman, 97 May 12,1921 To December 22,2018, Visitation Funeral Services Interment Memorials Maryalice Straatman 1921 – 2018 Glasgow resident, Maryalice Straatman, passed away at her home December 22, 2018. She was 97 years of age. Maryalice Straatman was born in Marshall, MO, May 12, 1921, the daughter of James H. and Mary Elizabeth (Hayob) Ordway. Maryalice graduated from Mercy Academy in Marshall in 1939. On November 9, 1950, she married Joseph Straatman. Joe preceded Maryalice in death on October 6, 1986. Maryalice was employed as a telephone operator and also worked as a cook for Glasgow Public Schools for over 15 years. She was a devout member of St. Mary’s Church, and a member of the D of I and CCW. Maryalice enjoyed crochet, reading, and playing bingo and bridge. She also loved visiting with family and friends. Survivors include seven children, Martha Straatman, of the home, Theresa (Jim) Innes, of Boonville, MO, Carolyn Straatman, of Columbia, Eddie Straatman, of Glasgow, Elizabeth Monnig of Glasgow, David (Delinda) Straatman, of Boonville, and Thomas Straatman, of the home; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Maryalice is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Maryalice was preceded in death by three brothers, Jimmy, Billy and David, a sister, Gertrude, daughter-in-law, Leann Straatman, son-in-law, W. Michael Monnig, and longtime companion of Carolyn Straatman, Alan Poe. A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 AM, Thursday, December 27, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glasgow, with Fr. Paul Hartley officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 26 from 4:30-7:30 PM at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow. Rosary will be at 4 PM, prior to the visitation. Interment will follow the funeral mass at Washington Cemetery in Glasgow. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Washington Cemetery, in care of the funeral home. |
