Forest Green resident, Marshall Kottman passed away at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia on July 18, 2014. He was 86 years of age. Marshall Edward Kottman was born February 20, 1928 in Forest Green, MO to Edward and Ida (Luecker) Kottman. He attended the Forest Green and Salem Lutheran grade schools and graduated from Glasgow High School in 1946. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Korea. Upon his discharge he worked as a carpenter for several years before farming full time. On September 10, 1955, Marshall married Dorothy Rohwer at Salem Lutheran Church. Marshall was a lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church and served in various capacities of the church. He is survived by his wife of the home; one son, Stacy (Robin) Kottman of Atlanta, GA, daughter, Sheryl Kottman of Decatur, GA; three grandchildren, Jaclyn, Ryan and Joel Kottman; two sisters-in-law, Ernelle Kottman of Salisbury and Mildred Kottman of Glasgow; and a number of nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Marshall was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Blondina and Ed Fistor, brother and sister-in-law Harvey and Armarylis Kottman, brother Howard Kottman and brother-in-law Marvin Kottman. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, July 21, 2014 at Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor Laurence Carlson officiating. Visitation will be Sunday evening 5 to 7 PM at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow. Burial with military honors will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery with Barry and Dave Imgarten, Myron Boss, David Lyons, and Dan and Bob Kottman serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Ron Thomas, Clifford Imgarten, Darryl Ridgely, Calvin Lyons, Clay Mouser, Curtis and Glenn Kottman. Memorials are suggested to the Salem Lutheran Cemetery Fund in care of the funeral home.
