She preceded him in death on April 3, 1998. Mr. Gessling was an active member of the Salem Lutheran Church, serving in many capacities. He farmed most of his life in the Forest Green Community. When he lost his mobility, Ralph took up hand embroidering, a talent he learned as a child. Ralph loved being with family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Mr. Gessling is survived by two sons, Marlin (Tami) Gessling of Columbia and Neil (Pam) Gessling of Fort Worth, TX; one daughter, Glenna (Dean) Brucks of Columbia; one sister, Gladys Thompson of Columbia; nine grandchildren, Andrew (Mandy) Gessling, Kendall (Heather) Gessling, Katie Gessling; Eli, Emelia, and Erich Gessling; Lauren, Rachel and Kelsey Brucks; and two great grandchildren, Abigail and Evan. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Wendell and a daughter, Renee; and six siblings, Norman, William, Ivan, Olga Borgman, Ruth Gessling and Elaine Terry. Ralph’s brother, Eunas “Pete”, passed away 24 hours after Ralph’s passing. Funeral services will be 11 AM, Friday, July 25th, at Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor Laurence Carlson officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Salem Lutheran Cemetery with Steve, Dennis, Andrew, Kendall, Eli, and Erich Gessling serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM Thursday evening at the Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow. Memorials are suggested to the Mid Missouri Lutheran Hospital Ministries in care of the funeral home.
