Fayette resident, Jerry Lawson, 77, passed away at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia, MO on February 15, 2021. Jerry Paul Lawson was born November 15, 1942 in Prairie Home, Cooper County, MO, a son to the late Orville and Ester Mae (Wooten) Lawson. He attended high school in New Franklin, MO. Jerry served his country and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged in August of 1965. For numerous years, Jerry primarily worked as a cattle appraiser for the Missouri Valley Commission Company. He also hauled cattle, farmed, ran livestock and sold grain. Jerry was a proud member of the VFW. Survivors include his son, Rick Lawson, of Gilliam, MO; three grandchildren, Kaih and Kelsey Lawson, both of Gilliam, MO and Kerstin (Eric) Beeler of Slater, MO; and a sister, Linda (Joe) Smith of Inman, SC. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Lawson, Jr., three brothers, Henry, Kenneth and Jimmy Lawson, and one sister, Joyce Beerman. A visitation for Mr. Lawson will be 10 AM – Noon, February 20, 2021 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette, MO. Facemasks are required and social distancing guidelines will be observed. Burial with full military honors will be held at Boonesboro Cemetery in Franklin, MO, immediately following the visitation.
