Lifelong Glasgow resident and farmer, Paul Thies passed away suddenly on May 27, 2021 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. He was 73 years of age. Paul Edward Thies was born September 11, 1947 in Moberly, MO, a son to Joseph F. and Rita (Schmidt) Thies. He graduated from Glasgow High School with the class of 1965. Paul was united in marriage to Colette Johnmeyer on September 23, 1977 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayette. Together, they’ve enjoyed over 43 years of marriage. Paul was a hard-working man. He farmed his whole life alongside his brothers, raising livestock and tending to the fields. Paul loved his wife, family and truly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. In his spare time, Paul enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, fishing, camping, woodworking, and doing work on his trackhoe. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a devout member of St. Mary’s Church. Survivors include his wife, Colette Thies, of the home; four children, Laura (Jeremy) Korte of Glasgow, Steven (Cam) Thies of Glasgow, Sarah (Dave) Thompson of Fayette, and Grant (Paula) Thies of Glasgow; 10 grandchildren, Isaac, Gus, Preston, Paysen, Pryce, Nathan, Charley, Trenton, Briley and Rhett; three siblings, Jerome (Kathleen) Thies, Danny (Robin) Thies, and Bonnie (Jeff) Meyer, all of Glasgow. Paul is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Littrell. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM, Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at St, Mary’s Church in Glasgow, with Fr. Joshua Duncan officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 PM, Tuesday June 1, 2021 at St. Marys Church. A prayer service will be held before the visitation at 3:30 PM. Interment will be at Washington Cemetery in Glasgow.
