Helen Thompson 1945 – 2021 Glasgow, MO resident, Helen Thompson, 75, passed away peacefully at her home on June 27, 2021, surrounded by her family. Helen Margaret Thompson was born in Glasgow on August 19, 1945, a daughter to the late Ellington “Irish” Neil and Christine (Vossler) Alverson. She graduated from Armstrong High School with the class of 1963. On April 11, 2015, Helen married Ronald Thompson at their home in Glasgow. Helen was a familiar face to most Glasgow residents. She worked as the cashier at Charlie’s Quik-Chek grocery store for 45 plus years, greeting every shopper with a friendly smile and conversation. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and visiting with friends and family. Survivors include her husband of the home, Ronald Thompson; two daughters, Stephanie (Kevin) Mullins of Marshall, MO and Laura (Robert) Muse of Glasgow, MO; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sister, Martha (John Phillips) Alverson of Paris, TX; nephew, Darrin (Paula) Tebbe of Homestead, FL and great-nephew, Connor Tebbe of Homestead, FL. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by a brother, Neil Alverson and a sister, Nellie Monnig. A private memorial service honoring the life of Helen Thompson will be held at Washington Cemetery n Glasgow, with Rev. Sandra Enyard officiating.
