Columbia, MO resident, Ellie Sims, 42, passed away at her home, peacefully in her sleep, on November 25, 2021. Ellie Kay Sims was born February 12, 1979 at Keller Hospital in Fayette, MO, a daughter to Ronnie Sims and Pamela (Bias) Kite. Ellie attended and graduated from Fayette High School with the class of 1997. At age 11, Ellie was diagnosed as type 1 diabetic. She courageously fought this disease most of her life, and she never gave up. She held various jobs including working for American Discovery in Glasgow, MO and working in laundry and housekeeping for Moberly Nursing and Rehab for several years. Ellie loved music, reading, and poetry. She adored her children and grandchildren, and truly cherished the time she was able to spend with her family. Survivors include her three children, Laquinn (Samantha Walters) Herriford of Columbia, MO, Kaylynn (Hunter Driggers) Sims and Annalynn Sims, both of Charleston, IL; two grandchildren, Janaya and Markeese Herriford; mother, Pamela Kite of Columbia, MO; father, Ronnie Sims of Clark, MO; two sisters, Talesha (John) Woods of Centralia, MO, and Veronica Sims of Wynona, MO; and her maternal grandmother, Betty Wyatt of Fayette, MO. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Gerald Goodman and Ellie Ridgeway, and her maternal grandfather, Floyd Bias. A memorial service honoring the life of Ellie will be 10 AM, Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette, with Rev. Sandra Enyard officiating. Inurnment will be held privately, at the convenience of the family.
