10 AM, Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette. Military Honors will follow the service at the funeral home.

Lynn “Popeye” Jones, 87, passed away surrounded by family at his home in New Franklin, MO on December 14, 2021. Lynn L. Jones was born May 28, 1934 in Hartsburg, MO, the son of Lynn and Hilda (Perkins) Jones. At the age of 15, Lynn was adopted by Grant and Vera (Summers) Carmichael in Howard County, MO. In 1956, Popeye was drafted and served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman. He was honorably discharged in April of 1959. Popeye was a proud member of Cooper Lodge #36 A.F. and A.M. Masonic Lodge, receiving his 50 year pin on September 12, 2021. Lynn held numerous jobs throughout his career including being a dozer operator in the construction industry, farmer, logger and truck driver. Popeye worked for Missouri Department of Transportation as a shed foreman, retiring after 25 years of service. Lynn was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and K.C. Chiefs fan, rarely missing a game. Survivors include his sister Karen Carmichael Boggs; his loving furry companion, Angel; Pappy’s girls and boys, Linda (Ben) Woods of Franklin, MO, Sherry (Gary) Wallace-Williams, of Fayette, MO, Sharon (Clay) Morgan, of Opelika, AL, Edward (Debbie) Dodson, of Fayette, MO, Vonciel (Jeff) Beiswinger, of Boonville, MO, Lynette (Don) Baker, of Columbia, MO, Kristi (Cory) Schlegel, of Columbia, MO. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his biological parents and adoptive parents, Popeye was preceded in death by two sisters, Patty and Kathy Carmichael, five brothers, Charles, Edward, Raymond, Donald “Casey”, and Ronnie Jones, and a brother-in-law, George Boggs. Visitation for family and friends will be held 5-7 PM, Friday, December 17, 2021 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette, MO. A Masonic service will be held prior to the visitation at 4:30 PM at the funeral home. Funeral services honoring the life of Mr. Jones will be 10 AM, Saturday, December 18 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette with Rev. Roger McMurry officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at Clark’s Chapel Cemetery at a later date.
