Fayette, MO resident, Lou Wells, 80, passed away at the Lodge in Fayette on January 22, 2022. Lou Wells was born in Madison, MO on February 13, 1941, a daughter to the late Oliver C. and Mary Alice (Mallory) Smith. She graduated from Madison High School with the class of 1959. Following graduation, on June 27, 1959, she married the love of her life, Edwin Wells, in Moberly, MO. Lou worked for many years as an assistant and clerk at Alsop and Graham Drugstore in Fayette. She later took a job working at the Fayette City Hall in the Light and Water department, retiring in 1998. Lou loved reading, cooking and spending time with her family. She was a member of Hillside Baptist Church in Fayette. Survivors include her husband of the home Ed Wells, daughter Laurie Wells, daughter-in-law Sherry Wells and granddaughter Katherine Wells, all of Fayette, as well as her many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lou was preceded in death by her son Jeff Wells, six brothers (Charles A Smith, Wilbur V Smith, James H Smith, William R Smith, Oliver C Smith and Edgar O Smith) and two sisters (Mary N Johnson and Hazel I Collins). A memorial service honoring the life of Mrs. Wells will be held 1 PM, Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette, with Rev. Ken Stacey officiating. Visitation will be an hour before the service at the funeral home starting at Noon. Due the influx in covid cases in the county, it is strongly encouraged to wear a face mask for the services. Private inurnment will follow the service at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Fayette.
