Long time Glasgow resident, Aileen Thies, 94, passed away at Glasgow Garden April 8, 2022 with her husband at her side. Aileen Verona Thies was born March 26, 1928 to Frank and Flora (Ginter) Fuemmeler in Aholt, MO. She attended St. Mary Grade School, then Glasgow High School, graduating in 1946. She married Anthony “Tony” Thies August 18, 1949 at St. Mary Church in Glasgow. The couple enjoyed 73 years of marriage. Tony and Aileen worked together on the family farm east of Glasgow for 45 years before moving to town in 1994. Aileen gardened, canned, cooked, grew flowers and enjoyed being with family. She was an active member of St. Mary Church until her health failed. Survivors include her husband, Tony, of Glasgow; son, Bob Thies of Tucson, AZ, daughter, Flora Emmerich of Glasgow, son, Jim (Paula) Thies of Boonville, son, Dale Thies of Olathe, KS; two brothers, Leon (Marie) Fuemmeler of Albuquerque, NM, and Ray (Sharell) Fuemmeler of Armstrong and one sister, Bernice Henke of Salisbury, MO; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Fred Thies, granddaughter, Naomi Thies and six brothers, Clarence, Vince, Irvin, Melvin, Eugene and Maurice and one sister, Edna Nichols. A funeral service honoring Aileen’s life will be 11 AM, Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow with Fr. Joshua Duncan officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service from 10 to 11 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery in Glasgow.
