Raymond Exner 1932 – 2014 Raymond Exner died unexpectedly at his home near Harrisburg on Thursday, December 4, 2014. He was 82 years of age. Raymond Allen Exner was born October 27, 1932 in Chicago, IL to William and Elizabeth (Metz) Exner. He grew up in the Chicago area, graduating from Downers Grove High School with the Class of 1951. After graduation, Ray became a member of the Illinois National Guard and later served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by the International Harvester Company at Joliet, IL before moving to Howard County in 1973. He continued farming in the area until his retirement. In his youth, Ray enjoyed motorcycle riding and was a member of the Downer’s Grove Jokers cycle club. In retirement, he was an active member of the Fayette Senior Center and enjoyed collecting antique items, especially railroad models and memorabilia. Raymond is survived by two sons; Russell Exner of Columbia and Jonathan Exner and his wife, Jean of Edina. Two grandchildren Isaac and Curtis Exner also survive as do three brothers; Bill Exner and wife, Fran and Jerry Exner all of Newnan, GA and John Exner of Seattle, WA, one sister, Betty Davis and husband, Jim of Nixa, MO and a number of nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral service will be 11 AM, Tuesday, December 9th at the Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette with Rev. John Gillman officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
