Thomas Tucker 1927 – 2015 Former New Franklin resident, Thomas Tucker passed away January 3, 2015 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, MO. He was 87 years of age. Thomas Edward Tucker was born October 13, 1927 in Texas County, MO, near Mountain Grove to Edgar and Ola (Canada) Tucker. He graduated from Mountain Grove High School. Mr. Tucker was in the United States Navy for 20 years serving in WW II, Korean and Vietnam wars. He was in a submarine for 15 years and he also participated in Operation Crossroads at Bikini Atoll for testing of the Atomic Bomb. Tom taught auto body works at the Moberly Prison. He worked at several different auto dealerships and owned a garage in Columbia. He retired from the University of Missouri as an assistant manager of Campus Building Services. Mr. Tucker is survived by his wife Betty Wells who he married in 1992 in Miami, OK. He is also survived by one daughter, Debbie Whitener of Cullman, AL, four grandsons, one granddaughter and one great granddaughter, six step-children, Lydia Sartain of New Franklin, Jeff Brengarth of Boonville, Jackie Agnew of Moberly, Randy Thoma of Towanda, KS, Lisa McKinney of Moundridge, KS and Mitchel Thoma of Wichita, KS, 13 step grandchildren and 8 step great-grandchildren. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Thomas E. Tucker, Jr and one sister, Margaret. There will be no funeral service at this time, as was Tom’s request.
