William “Billy” Maupin 1932 – 2015 William Maupin passed away April 6, 2015 at Golden Living Center in Glasgow. He was 83 years of age. William Marion Maupin was born February 29, 1932 South of Glasgow in the Pleasant Green Community to William Dale and Leona Margaret (Meyer) Maupin. He attended Pleasant Green School and graduated from Glasgow High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict in which Bill received two Bronze Stars. Bill married Gloria Budd August 30, 1952 at Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Denver, CO. Bill was a truck driver for a number of companies, with Monnig Industries being the last company that he drove for. He also farmed and was an accomplished mechanic. He owned and operated along with the late Dick Isles, Maupin’s Garage, south of Glasgow for a number of years. Bill enjoyed gardening, deer hunting and socializing with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Gloria of the home, two daughters, Betty (Steve) Strodtman and Paula (Myrl) Fuemmeler all of Glasgow, four grandson, Derek (Karen) Strodtman, Trenton Strodtman, Jacob Miller and Michael Fuemmeler and one granddaughter, Stacy Fuemmeler, and 13 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by one sister, Jane Larson and one granddaughter, Kasie Strodtman. There will be a memorial service 2 PM, Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow with Revs. Thomas Myers and Louis Odneal officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, 1 to 2 PM. Burial with military honors will follow the service at Pleasant Green Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Pleasant Green Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
