Dale Johnson Obituary

Dale Johnson passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, April 1, 2024 at Glasgow Gardens.  He was 82 years of age.

Walter Dale Johnson was born May 29, 1941 on the family farm, east of Glasgow, to Francis and Emma (Johanning) Johnson.  He graduated with the Glasgow High School class of 1959 and went on to attend the University of Missouri.

Dale in his younger years had a hay crew.  Growing up on a farm he and his four brothers learned how to work.  He used this work ethic when farming as well as hauling lime, grain and tobacco.  He married Karen Oser September 7, 1963 at St. Mary Church in Glasgow.  The couple have enjoyed 60 years of marriage.  Dale was an active member of St. Mary Church.  As an usher, he would often greet people as they came into church with a smile and maybe some humor.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, an MFA Oil delegate, and served with the Extension Council for a number of years.  He loved visiting with family, friends or strangers, tractor rides with grandkids and great grandkids, playing cards and an occasional trip to the casino.  He will be sadly missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; two daughters, Debbie Johnson of Glasgow and Karla (Kevin) Weiseman of Richmond, Virginia; six grandchildren, Mitchell (Kendra) Fuemmeler, Megan (Jake) Langendoerfer, Kyle Fuemmeler, Jake (Annie) Weiseman, Mikaela (Patrick) Henry and Alyssa (Luke) Hellebusch; nine great-grandchildren, Ava, Jayson, Macklin, Zach, Josie, Miles, Max, Mason and Kali; one sister, Judy (Maury) Morris of Edmond, OK; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Johnson of Kansas City, MO.  In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by five brothers, Jerry, Johnny, Kenneth, James and Larry Johnson and two sisters-in-law, Leanna and Marilyn Johnson.

A funeral mass honoring Dale will be 11 AM, Friday, April 5, 2024 at St. Mary Church in Glasgow with Fr. Joshua Duncan officiating.  Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Washington Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Mary Church or St. Mary School in care of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service, 112 Market St., Glasgow, MO 65254.
