Armstrong resident, Tanis Clay, age 58, passed away suddenly at her home on February 28, 2026.
Tanis Regina Clay was born in Boone County, MO on July 2, 1967. She was a daughter to the late Thaddeus “Ted” and Evelyn (Anderson) Swanegan. Tanis was a graduate of Glasgow High School and following high school she attended Central Methodist University for three years. On January 30, 1992, Tanis married the love of her life, Willie Clay, in Fayette, MO. The couple have enjoyed over 34 years of marriage. Tanis spent her professional career working as an assistant director in the assisted living industry. She worked for the Pierce Home in Armstrong for approximately 25 years, where she assisted with all the day to day operations, and lovingly cared for all the residents. When she wasn’t busy working, Tanis loved reading and traveling the United States with her husband, Willie.
She leaves to mourn her beloved husband of 34 years, Willie Clay; step-son, Demarko Clay; special aunt, Delores Swanegan; niece, Shelly Swanegan; a host of family and cousins including, Debbie (Keith) Tatum, Aaron (Ambrosia) Mozee, Tiara Patrick and Sherry Burton. She is also survived by many neighbors and friends.
A funeral service honoring the life of Tanis Clay will be 1 PM, Friday, March 6, 2026 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service in Glasgow, with Rev. Sandra Enyard officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service starting at 11 AM, at the funeral home.
